Behind the Seams & Shells: How Our Rescue Cats QA Every Treasure

Every vintage treasure that enters our shop and every custom apparel design launched through Curious Kitties Studio™ shares a single unifying standard: it has passed the strict, highly opinionated inspection of our chief quality assurance officers, Grayson and Knightly.

1. The Rescue Beginnings (2020)

Curious Kitties Collectibles didn't start in a corporate boardroom; it began in our living room with two tiny, bonded black cat brothers. Rescued in 2020 from Small Miracles Animal Rescue in Ellicott City, Maryland, after a rough start left them abandoned on a roadside, we thought we were rescuing them. As it turns out, they rescued us.

Knightly (The CEO): The black cat in the blue tie and gold emblem. He is curious, brave, and insists on personally inspecting every incoming shipping box, estate sale haul, and newly unrolled t-shirt mock-up.

Grayson (The QA Manager): The quiet, soft-spoken brother who specializes in physical stability testing—which usually involves sitting directly on top of any vintage plate, textile, or flat surface we are trying to photograph.

2. What "Cat-Approved" Actually Means

When we say an item is cat-approved, it is not just a marketing slogan. It represents our operational benchmark for quality:

Structural Integrity: If a vintage ceramic planter or porcelain figurine is even slightly wobbly or unstable, Grayson knocks it over during inspection—and it never makes it to the shop.

Tactile Comfort: If a blanket, plush item, or apparel blank isn't soft enough for Knightly to comfortably knead, we don't stock it.

Natural Light Photography: Every piece is photographed in natural light without filters, showing the true condition (warts, whiskers, and wonderful details) so collectors know exactly what they are receiving.

3. Bridging Vintage Curiosities and Original Art

Our mission has grown from a living room collection of 20 vintage pieces to over 563 curated treasures and counting, earning Etsy Star Seller status. That same meticulous standard now drives Curious Kitties Studio™, our dedicated home for original photography, tileable surface patterns, and custom apparel (including our tabletop RPG world, Paws & Parchment).

4. Giving Back to Where It All Began
